To mourn the demise of iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar, the Maharashtra authorities has introduced a public vacation on Monday.

The Centre has already introduced a two-day nationwide mourning after the demise of the music doyen. Throughout this era, the tricolour will fly at half-mast as a mark of respect for the Bharat Ratna-awardee who has mesmerised Indian viewers for many years along with her soulful voice.
Known as the Nightingale of India, the 92-year-old legendary singer died at Breach Sweet Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday morning. She was hospitalised final month after testing optimistic for COVID-19 and was additionally underneath therapy for pneumonia. Her funeral shall be held this night with full state honours.
